The Quiet Garden

Jesus said, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest’.    Mark 6:31

You are welcome to come and join us in St Peter’s Place, Fishbourne Church Hall, (two miles west of Chichester), for a morning of rest, quiet and spiritual reflection between 10am and 12.15pm on any of the 4th Tuesdays in 2018.

The theme for 2018 is ‘Wholeness’.

After a wonderfully diverse year spent following the theme of ‘Light’ with various leaders, our 2018 programme commences on Tuesday, 27th March with Elaine Waddington, followed on 24th April by a morning with the Rev. Philip Roderick, founder of the Quiet Garden Movement, on the topic ‘Resting in a Garden’. There will be a shared lunch after this special meeting.
Meetings will continue through the year until 27th November.

“And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put the man whom he had formed” (Genesis 2:8).
Jesus said:  “See how the lilies of the field grow . . . Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these” (Matthew 6:28)
T S Eliot wrote in Part III of ‘East Coker’ . . .”I said to my soul, be still . . . . the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.  Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing”

Sit either inside the Hall or outside in the churchyard, becoming aware of the rhythm of your breathing, being present to the presence of God; or walk through the water meadows, either towards Chichester Harbour or beside the stream to the village with its duck-pond and high reeds.

Refreshments, books and craft materials are available to help yourself.
A donation of £5 is suggested to cover expenses.
